News from EPI Press call today: EPI economist joins panel reacting to CBO score of COVID relief plan

Today at 11 a.m. Eastern, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) will release An Overview of the Economic Outlook: 2021 to 2031, including its latest 10-year economic projections.

At 12:00 p.m. Eastern, Invest in America will convene a group of economists to give their reaction to the CBO’s report and its implications for COVID relief. Register for the call here.

EPI Director of Research Josh Bivens will join former Director of the National Economic Council Gene Sperling and other economists to react to newly released economic projections from the Congressional Budget Office.

Economists will also discuss to latest efforts to weaken President Biden’s COVID-19 relief plan.

The U.S. economy shrank by 3.5 percent last year, making 2020 the worst year for economic growth in the U.S. since World War II, according to data released Thursday by the Bureau of Economic Analysis.
