Thursday Hearing on Guest Worker Abuses

As the debate on the overhaul of our immigration laws heats up in Congress, questions about the recruitment of guest workers and their employment conditions are often overlooked. On Thursday, June 7, two experts and contributors to EPI’s Agenda for Shared Prosperity will testify before the House Education and Labor Committee on the dangers and abuses inherent in guest worker programs.

Starting at 10:30 a.m. at 2175 Rayburn, former U.S. Secretary of Labor Ray Marshall and Southern Poverty Law Center expert Mary Bauer will give testimony on protecting non-immigrant workers and U.S. workers in the context of recruitment and employment of temporary foreign labor.
