NEWS CONFERENCE CALL: EPI’s Project on the People & the Economy
Tuesday, December 5, 1:00 pm (EST)
(RSVP below, News Release Now Included)
If It’s Still “The Economy, Stupid,” Don’t Talk about the Economy Stupidly
After an election where economic issues ranked second only to the war in Iraq, how can the nation’s leaders talk about jobs, incomes, insecurity, and inequality in ways that make sense to most Americans?
In a new report from the Economic Policy Institute, Talking Past Each Other: What Everyday Americans Really Think (and Elites Don’t Get) About the Economy, experts on living standards, public opinion, and political rhetoric explain how Americans have ambivalent views about the economy, how national leaders misunderstand public opinion, and how advocates across the philosophical spectrum can speak more understandably and persuasively.
