The Economic Policy Institute and The Century Foundation invite you to a discussion with Jeff Madrick, whose new book, Seven Bad Ideas: How Mainstream Economists Have Damaged America and the World, is prompting an overdue dialogue about responsible economic policy making. Madrick, a Century Foundation senior fellow, regular contributor to The New York Review of Books and noted author on economic policy, now takes aim at disciples of free market fundamentalism who adhere to models and theories that are discredited by real world results.

In a review, Nobel Laureate, Paul Krugman, says that “Madrick has clarified my own thinking on the subject…Seven Bad Ideas is an important and broadly accurate story about what went wrong.”

On Thursday, October 23, Madrick will detail his arguments and engage in a discussion of his conclusions with Josh Bivens, EPI Research and Policy Director and Brad DeLong, Professor of Economics at UC Berkeley.  Ylan Mui, reporter at The Washington Post, will serve as moderator for what promises to be an important conversation about how bad economic theory has led to devastating consequences for most Americans.

This event is free and open to the public.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
